Anybody?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #808080;\">When <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/thesassylibrarian.blogspot.com\/\">the Sassy Librarian<\/a> suggested that I start a blog, I naturally planned to name it Ethan Lewis&#8217; Blog.\u00a0 After all, my website is <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ethanlewis.org\/\">www.ethanlewis.org<\/a>, the online forum for my history class is <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/ethanlewis.ning.com\/\">ethanlewis.ning.com<\/a> and I feel like it is a nice brand identity.\u00a0 But then I was told that &#8220;Ethan Lewis is boring.\u00a0 Think of something interesting.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #808080;\">So I began trying to brainstorm names of blogs.\u00a0 &#8220;Blog Horn&#8221; and &#8220;My Librarian Is Sassier Than Yours&#8221; quickly went by the wayside.\u00a0 &#8220;30 Minutes Or Your Pizza&#8217;s Free&#8221; was an early favorite.\u00a0 But then I thought that I&#8217;d like to have a reference to one of my favorite movies.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I&#8217;m not blessed at remembering movie dialogue except for some rare cases.\u00a0 Basically I have memorized just about every line from <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0068646\/\"><i>The Godfather<\/i><\/a>, <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0071562\/\"><i>The Godfather Part II<\/i><\/a>, <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0029843\/\"><i>The Adventures of Robin Hood<\/i><\/a>, and <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0088258\/\"><i>This is Spinal Tap<\/i><\/a>.\u00a0 An eclectic mix!\u00a0 Rather than picking a quote from a film, I decided that I&#8217;d like to veer a bit off the beaten path, and choose a song title by Spinal Tap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #808080;\">Spinal Tap has been very influential to me.\u00a0 Ever since my first year of college, when I was a member of a band (Br\u00e4inh\u00e4mmer) that pretended to be German heavy metalists and whose main influences were <i>TIST <\/i>and <i>The Hammer of the Gods: The Led Zeppelin Story<\/i> (a sensationalist bio of the mighty Zep by Stephen Davis).\u00a0 Later another of my bands (The Trouser Helpers) derived their name from a throwaway line by David St. Hubbins on the Arsenio Hall show.\u00a0 Since then I have gone so far as to decorate my office with a vintage <i>TIST<\/i> movie poster and action figures.\u00a0 In choosing a name, I relied on one of the all-time greatest websites, the <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spinaltapfan.com\/articles\/intro.html\">Spinal Tap Fan Site<\/a>, by Chip Rowe.\u00a0 Rowe is an interesting guy, who is an expert on Spinal Tap, as demonstrated in his book <i>Spinal Tap A to Zed.\u00a0 <\/i>Rowe has combed the movie, subsequent articles, tv appearances and other sources to compile the everything anyone needs to know about Tap.\u00a0 But when I started looking at the titles, I realized that many probably wouldn&#8217;t work:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #808080;\">&#8220;The Sun Never Sweats&#8221;&#8211;too warm<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #808080;\">&#8220;Saliva of the Fittest&#8221;&#8211;too wet, plus I am working on a song of that name<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #808080;\">&#8220;Nice n&#8217; Stinky&#8221;&#8211;too smelly<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #808080;\">&#8220;Young, Smug and Famous&#8221;&#8211;unfortunately I am none of those things.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #808080;\">\u00a0And then I found it.\u00a0 My &#8220;Eureka&#8221; moment!\u00a0 A deep track on Tap&#8217;s psychedelic album &#8220;We Are All Flower People&#8221;, the epic &#8220;The Incredible Flight Of Icarus P. Anybody&#8221;.\u00a0 I knew then, that I had found my muse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #808080;\">\u00a0After graduating college I spent a year writing humorous sports columns for the now defunct Northampton, MA <i>College Optimist<\/i> under the <i>nom de plume<\/i> &#8220;The Crank In The Stands&#8221;.\u00a0 <a style=\"color: #808080;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ethanlewis.org\/crank\">You can read highlights of the Crank&#8217;s rants here<\/a>.\u00a0 But the Crank is too negative for the 21st century.\u00a0 So now I am pleased to work with the alter ego of Icarus P.
