Weekly Syllabus

Week of Monday, December 14 through Friday, December 18

This week we will resume our look at the turbulent 1850's. We will examine major social/political issues such as the Fugitive Slave Law, and other aspects of the political environment of the 1850's, such as popular sovereignty and the violence surrounding the admission of Kansas to the Union. We will also talk about the famous Dred Scott v. Sanford Supreme Court decision, and begin discussing abolitionist John Brown. You will get multiple handouts this week--hang on to them as they will be useful sources for your term paper.

Please be aware that on Thursday, January 14th you will have a test. The test will require you to know the names and years of service of ALL of the Presidents of the United States. Get started memorizing them now!
