Weekly Syllabus

This is it. Our time together is nearly
over. This week we will study and discuss
Ta-Nehisi Coates' article. I think that it
ties in very nicely with a lot of other things
that we've learned about this year. I will give
you all the information you will need for the exam
on Thursday. Thanks for your efforts this year,
and best of luck for the rest of your careers at
Sem, and the rest of your lives. I will always
remember you.

Due: The final
draft of your termpaper must be submitted on turnitin.com by the start of
class.
Topic:
Discussion of the reading in small groups.-I
will break you up into groups to discuss some
specific aspects of the articles.
Homework: Please
read the packet of two articles handed out today
in class. You will want to have them read by the
start of class tomorrow.

Homework: Please
write a three paragraph email to
me that will serve as a
"self-evaluation" of the
research paper project.
The first paragraph should
discuss your feelings about all
of the sub-assignments (the
notetaking, the outline, the
annotated bibliography, the
first draft). Do you think that
you did your best on these
sub-assignments? If not, how
would you have improved? If not,
why?
The second paragraph should
discuss the research process
itself. Why did you pick your
topic? Do you like it more or
less now? Why? What did you
learn during the research
process about your subject?
About yourself?
The third paragraph can be up to
you to describe any other
thoughts that you have about the
research paper process and (if
you choose) this course as a
whole. This
assignment will be worth 5% of
the total research paper
project. I
need to receive this email by the start of class
on Thursday.
