Weekly Syllabus

Week of Monday, April 25 through Friday, April 30


This week we will jump into our study of America during the Second World War and the postwar period. Your outlines are due NO LATER THAN the start of class on Monday, and I'll give them back within two days. Your first draft is due a week from Wednesday. If you haven't conferenced yet, now would be a good time!

Please keep up with the reading. If you do so you will be prepared for class and you will also have several days before the paper is due with no reading assignments.

Tuesday, April 26, 2011 (50 minutes)

Due: Your outline, typed and handed to me at the start of class.

Topic: Discussion of the reading.

Homework: Read AP&AN pp. 785 (Winning)-793.

 

Wednesday, April 27, 2011 (45 minutes)

Topic: Discussion of the reading.

Homework:Read AP&AN pp. 798-802 (Containment in Action).

 

Thursday, April 28, 2011 (45 minutes)

Topic: Hiroshima, the Bomb, and the end of the war.

Homework: Read AP&AN pp. 808 (The Korean War)-815 (The Struggle for the Thirld World). Read AP&AN pp. 834 (Cold War Fears and Anticommunism )-845 (Men,Women and Youth at Midcentury). Have this assignment read for WEDNESDAY, May 4th. Work on your first draft.

 

Friday, April 29, 2011 (45 minutes)
