Weekly Syllabus

Week of Monday, October 24 through Friday, October 28


This week we will finish up with Chapter 8, and learn more about the history of the early republic. We will have time to review major topics and you will have the chance to write a short paper and have a fun class activity about the Constitution.

REMINDER: We will have our next test on Tuesday, Nov. 1st.  It will cover Chapters 7 and 8  as well as the Constitution.

Quiz
:There will DEFINITELY be a quiz today.

Topic: Discussion of the reading. Introduction to the writing assignment.
Homework: Students in "GROUP A" will  read the Preamble and Chapter 1 & Chapter 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.  Students in "GROUP B" will read the Preamble through Article 46 of the Iraqi Constitution.  Students in "GROUP C" will reread the Preamble and Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution.

Wednesday, October 26, 2011 (40 min)

Topic: Discussion of the reading.

Homework: Pretend that you are given the job of rewriting the U.S. Bill of Rights for the 21st century.  In a 3 paragraph essay, write the following:

1) What part (if any) of the Bill of Rights would you delete and why

2) What one (or two) parts of the Bill of Rights are so important that you would keep them and why

3) What would you add (if anything) to the Bill of Rights and why

Topic: Discussion of the homework.

Homework: Begin reviewing for the upcoming test.
