This week we will begin learning about the history of sports economics and labor-management relations in professional sports.  We will focus this week on baseball.  There will not be a blog assignment, but you will be asked to summarize an article for the class. 

Monday, January 23, 2012 (40 min)

Topic:  Intro to sports economics.

Homework: Comment on each other's blogs from last week.

 

 

Tuesday, January 24, 2012 (50 min)

Topic: Labor-management relations in major league baseball, a capsule history.

Homework: Read handout.

Wednesday, January 25, 2012 (45 min)

Topic: Continue with our study of baseball's labor-management relations.  Intro to Curt Flood.

Homework:  Read handouts.

Thursday, January 26, 2012 (50 min)

Topic: Discussion of reading.

Homework: Read handouts.

 

Friday, January 27, 2012 (45 min)

Topic: Group discussion of the reading assignments.
