This week we will finish our study of the 1960's and begin our study of the 1970's. We will also begin the "rock music criticism" module.

Monday, April 23, 2012 (45 min) 

Topic: 1967, the "Summer of Love", and the festivals of Monterrey (1967), Woodstock (1969) and Altamont (1969).

Homework: Read this article interviewing Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir, in which he talks about San Francisco during the peak of the psychedelic time period. Also, read the handout about Charles Manson.

 

Tuesday, April 24, 2012 (50 min)

Topic: Music class on Vietnam War related songs.

Homework: Please write a response to today's music class on the Ning by the start of tomorrow's class.

 

Wednesday, April 25, 2012 (45 min)

Topic: Discussion of the rock album criticism project.  1970's tv show.

Homework:  Find an album on the list and listen to it using Spotify.  You will want to listen to it multiple times.  Use Wikipedia or other web resources to get background info on the artist(s) and write a review.  The review is due on Sunday night.

 

Thursday, April 26, 2012 (45 min)

Topic: 1970's Singer/Songwriter music.

Homework:Please write a response to today's music class on the Ning by the start of tomorrow's class.

 

Friday, April 27, 2012 (45 min)

Topic: Another 1970's tv show.

Homework:Please write a response to the tv shows we saw this week.
