Week of Monday, April 4 through Friday, April 8

This week we will begin our study of the 1960's. We'll also have a chance to listen to lots of music, which means you'll need to take notes and write your response papers.

Monday, April 4, 2011 (40 min)

Topic:  Cold War fears in cinema.

Homework: Comment on at least one blog post from each of the other groups.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011 (50 min)

Topic:The Folk Revival and Bob Dylan's topical music.

Homework: Write a response to today's music. Read the articles (on the Ning) and reflect on the ability to write a song from the headlines. Optional extra credit: by Friday you can try to write your own protest song.

Wednesday, April 6, 2011 (40 min)

Topic:  Music Class # 4 (Brill Building, Beach Boys, British Invasion)

Homework: Write a response to today's music class on the Ning.

Thursday, April 7, 2011 (50 min)

Topic: Beatlemania.  Overview of the Beatles' music through the 60's.

Homework: Write a response to today's music class on the Ning.

Friday, April 8, 2011 (45 min)

Topic: More reactions to Beatlemania.

Homework:Your next blog post is due on Sunday night.
