Weekly SyllabusWeek of Monday, March 12 through Friday, March 16 Welcome to the class! I look forward to working with you as we study significant aspects of American culture during the years 1945-1995. We will focus on music, tv and movies, and technology, while also taking detours to look at major cultural events and movements. This should be a lot of fun! This week we will begin our term with the end of World War II, and the rise of consumerism in America following the shortages of money and goods endured in the Great Depression and the war. Your first written assignment will be due on the Ning at 11pm on Friday night. Monday, March 12, 2012 (40 min)
Tuesday, March 13, 2012 (50 min)Topic: Information about the databases, and how we will use our class forum. Introduction to the first assignment. Discussion of the reading. Homework: Acquire the reading for your first paper. You will need to make photocopies at the Library. Read The Fifties pp. 195-202. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 (45 min)--NO CLASS TODAY.
Thursday, March 15, 2012 (50 min)Topic: Discussion of the reading. Video clips. Homework: work on your paper. It is due at 11pm MONDAY . By 11pm on TUESDAY you should have read everyone else's paper and written a comment on the Ning.
