pp. 167-171; David Oshinsky, A Conspiracy So Immense, pp. 85-100).

2011 (45 minutes)
Topic: Information about the databases,
and how we will use our class forum. Discussion
of the reading. Yalta, Postdam, and other
background on the Cold War. Background
on issues concerning 1930's and 1940's America.
Homework: Reading about President Truman
and the beginning of the Cold War. For
background purposes, you can consult a previous
version of A People and a Nation (APAN)
Chapter 28. See me if you don't have a copy of
this book. Finish reading the "American
Century" handout.

Discussion of the reading. Introduction
to first writing assignment.
Homework: Finish reading the Oshinsky handout. Work on
